MOYTF
Men of Yesterday, Today, and the Future

Striving to Empower and Improve our Community

ABOUT US
OUR STORY

MOYTF was born in 2013, when a group of former friends, athletes, and classmates who’d graduated from Gibbs High School throughout the late 50s and 60s gathered to answer the call of a Juvenile Court Judge Patrice Moore. Moore was seeking a team of committed mentors to assist young men as an alternative to juvenile detention.

The last line of our mission statement, “Giving the very best of ourselves to advance the very best in others” speaks to our commitment to continue to impact the lives of the youth we mentor.

Our motto, “Striving to empower and improve our community” speaks to our values and inspiration.

Our name, Men of Yesterday, Today and the Future reflects who we are and who we have and will continue to impact. While we remember our past, today is our opportunity to act and create; our future exists in the seeds we plant today.

Our responsibility is to plant:

Plant seeds of admonition – gently counseling out youth and each other.
Plant seeds of encouragement – because we all need it from time to time.
Plant seeds of strength – a can-do spirit is uplifting.
Plant seeds of love.
Plant seeds of hope.
Plant seeds of faith – because without faith it is impossible to please God.

Our message to the lives we impact:

We care about your future...
...Yes, you can succeed...
...You can make better choices...
...YOU NEED TO KEEP TRYING... BECAUSE QUITTING IS NOT AN OPTION!
